In addition to typical dry cask shielding options like bells, lids shield, annulus gap snakes, and borated polyethylene panels, NPO can design more unique solutions such as 9’ tall shielding to sit on the floor around the base of a transfer cask, magnetic lead wool blankets, and shielding for the outside perimeter of the transfer cask. A third party engineering company will perform analyses when necessary. Even seemingly difficult shielding solutions can be solved by NPO.
