DIPHONIX^® RESIN - BOTTLED WATER APPLICATION

Diphonix^® resin is approved for use in drinking water applications. The bottled water industry needs to remove elemental manganese in bottled water to less than 5 ppb. Manganese is controlled for aesthetic reasons and the bottler must comply with the Truth in Labeling law by selectively removing the manganese without adverse effect on the primary constituents such as sodium, calcium, magnesium, etc.

As shown in the figure below, Diphonix. resin shows high uptake of Mn at neutral pH. Mn and any captured Fe from the bottled water feedstream are readily stripped in about 10 BV using Diphonix.
